Congratulations to all the finishers of the 2009 Lewis & Clark Ultra. Please see the Results page for the final results and split times.

Thank you to all the participants and crew. This race was made for you, and it would be nothing without you. I truly admire the guts, sweat and determination you all showed in riding the distance you did.

Volunteers. You were amazing! We need the racers to compete, but without the volunteers, they would not be able to. So thank you.

You may have noticed we had a photographer on the course. He will have pictures available very soon. I will send a message out on Twitter when they are ready for viewing.

There were a lot of amazing riders out there. John Pearch did the entire race with a broken front derailleur. He had to change chain rings by moving his chain with his hand on the day loop. On the night loop, he kept it in the small ring. He also was only one of two who did not stop to take a nap - all night.

Sandy Earl also did not stop for a rest. She rode a borrowed recumbent throughout the fridged night, grabbing sustenance each lap. She is normally an upright rider. Great performance from Sandy.

Adrienne Johnson, who was crewing for Sandy and John noted that the people who were doing the best, were the ones that were eating and drinking consistently. An amazing conclusion, fuel in = energy out.

It is also important to control your caffeine use. Too much too soon will make you crash when it wears off.

Chris Ragsdale found this out when he fell asleep, went off the road and into a ditch. Fortunately he landed on his feet and was unharmed. He also decided it was a good time to call it a night and was up in time to see the last few laps from the remaining 24s.

The weather was incredibly nice. Warm and sunny during the day with light winds in most areas. The clear skies made for a very, VERY cold night.
